Memory Quilt

I'm sooo excited!!! I got oodles on my to do list done today & even finished the top of the Memory Quilt for Ken made out of Gpa's W's old shirts. I can only work on this when Ken is gone so I totally had to take advantage of the time on my hands. I'm sure I'll be up late tonight or be in one of my insomniatic funks so I can finish up my tasks then.

Tomorrow I will put the trim on, the batting & backing....then hide it from the Kenster!! I hope I can hold off giving it to him until Christmas!!! =) For those of you new to my blog the dress on the wall was my Mom's wedding dress and the blue striped afghan was hers too & my real dad & lil brother made the bed for us =)
So many memories lay on my bed.....
What? You've seen this already you say? Well it was just standin there begging to get it's picture taken =)
I totally can't wait to show you what I have up my sleeve for this stack of awsomeness!!!

Whew, it's been a long day!

I set numerous goals today & accomplished a great many of them. I have never made pumpkin puree & my to do list did not allot ample time to do this AND the other tasks. I am happy to report that 4 of the 6 pumpkins have become puree though =) The other two were so hard to cut & my hands had had enough. So those two will go for the deer.

I chopped off the top, cleaned out the pumpkin brains, sliced them up & placed onto an ungreased cookie sheet & baked at 350 for 45 minutes. See, they have a hint of brown? Oh, added bonus is that the baking made the house smell delicious!!!
After they were done baking & let sit to cool a bit I began peeling the outer skin & chopping the pumpkin up & placing it in a bowl.

Loaded up the blender & pureed the bazoinkels outta the chunks

And whaaalaaa! We have a total of 16 cups of fresh pumpkin puree for breads, pies, cookies & who knows what else I'll make. I suggest setting aside a couple hours for this. I had figured it would take a half an hour tops to clean them & get them ready to bake...WRONG!!! It took 3!!!

After that task was finished I cleaned up the kitchen, emptied & ran the dishwasher, swept, scrubbed the floor, etc. I now have a clean kitchen =) Well for the time being...
I tidied up the house a bit, did a batch of laundry. My neck is still sore since Saturday morning. I either slept wrong or dancin to "Black Betty" Friday night did me in. So I figured I'd work on my sit still type tasks.

Logan's afghan is finished...

Also made some mittens & a scarf for special lil ladies in my life while I watched a movie "Christmas in the Clouds".
Tomorrow will be a much more productive day! I plan on going to bed at a decent hour. Which means, before 5am!! Ken's on the road so that means I rarely sleep. Tomorrow I will tackle the den and take the Christmas decorations upstairs after I put the Christmas Village we painted out on display. Tonight when I go to bed my jewelry making supplies will be taken to my craft room.

Hopefully I will have some time tomorrow to work on the memory quilt. The pieces are cut & the rows have been laid out & put back in order. Now I just need to park my fannie in front of the machine.

Oh wow! I haven't been too blogumentative lately!!! Last week was a real wanker of a feeling week. Ken got home on Wednesday night & took the rest of the week off. Let me tell you, it was awesome to have my hubby home. Especially when I am feeling like a fart in a jar!

We did some movie watching, snuggling on the couch, finished up the outside stuff that needed to be done before it starts to snow, did a lil shopping & cooking & attended my lil brother's last football game (which they won by the way), took my littlest brother & Maddy to our friends sons birthday party & watched the race yesterday. I'm certain I am forgetting stuff but that's the jist of it. Total awesome time though just chillin with the hubby, going to bed late & sleeping in. Oh and get this...I actually slept!!! I've always had problems sleeping.

Anytootles, last night I began the task of cutting up Ken Gpa's old shirts. It'll be 3 yrs on Jan 1st that Gpa passed away. The bag of clothes has been in the closet ever since. Well I'd really like to make something for Ken for Christmas. Something with meaning. I don't know if it's that I'm getting older but the store bought stuff just doesn't rock my socks. Sure, there are nice things but the whole hustle bustle of it all really annoys me. I guess it seems like all too often people only care about the gift they recieve. I have to admit, I was a lil snot bucket when I was a kid & it totally revolved around the gifts. Perhaps I am getting old...
anyways, back to the cutting of the shirts. Ken is not the easiest person to buy for & well, the man has everything. He doesn't know I am making him one. He thinks it's for his parents. So please, if you know him or see him don't mention it. (He never reads my blog) I guess that's a good thing. LOL

McKenzie wanted to help....isn't she precious!!! I think she realized "Mommy" was kinda sad doing this. So this was her way of making me smile =)

I've also been working on some other lil projects. I can't say who they are for because they are gifts & I have family who reads this.

This week I need to rent a rug doctor & get the carpets done...on November 1st we begin the fantabulastic task of putting up Christmas trees, Villages, lights, more lights, garlands, angels, manger...oh what fun! I can hardly wait!!!
