Weekend Madness

Ahhh another busy weekend! Ken got home late Friday night & we found ourselves leaving the house at 11:30 pm & heading to Perkins for our friend Chad's 30th birthday. I told Ken he could drink & I would drive. We never drink & drive...actually we really never drink. But it was Chad birthday so a few celebratory drinks would be fun. Well Ken decided not to drink so Nikki & I decided to try some apple pie shots...well after 4 I was a whipper snappin holly jolly gal!! It was totally fun though.

Shaney baney bo baney, myself & Ken

No clue what Ken had the giggles for. But Shane & I did a shot in celebratory fashion =)

Chaddy Chad the birthday boy & myself

Saturday we watched my lil brother Jess & Miss Madison for a few hours while Jim & Donna attended Donna's cousins funeral. JJ also came over & spent the night. Ken & his dad installed a new motion light on the front porch & a new dusk to dawn light on the garage in the back. No more loud buzzing bulb!!! Yahooo!!!! Serious, it sounded as if a swarm of bees or wasps were lodged in the old light. This one is energy efficient too =) Wonder what our electric bill will be next month. I'm actually excited to see it!!! We watched a couple movies before the Kenster & JJ vanished to the den to do some XBOX 360 gamin. Ahhh gotta love gamer geeks!!

On Sunday we put a turkey breast in the crockpot with some broth & picked Jesse & Maddy up & took them up to Ken's family's camp for his cousin Andy's 10th birthday party. Total funness!! The kids were fabulous & such fun. After we dropped them off it was time to come home & veg out in our fluffy clothes & watch the Packer game & the race. We were both tired & dozed on & off. Totally uncool for me!! I slept through part of the race!! By dinner time our turkey was finished. Oh we also added some veggies & had a yummalish turkey noodle (nuunuu as my niece calls it) soup, watched Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Family Guy (Ken's show) & American Dad (another one of Ken's shows) & then we watched Mr Magoriums Wonder Emporium. I suggest you watch that!! Totally magical & whimsical!! I'm almost finished with Logan's (my friend Shash's son's) afghan. There's still so much I have to do & make in time for Christmas. Speaking of Christmas...bathroom is decorated now with lights & pine garland, and a lil tree, village is up on the tv & end stands. My home is still a mess though & in need of some serious attention!!! I wonder if it would be animal abuse if I put some dusting cloths on my dogs feet & had them walk on the tables....hmmm Arizona is an Alaskan husky...perhaps we could have her pull the vacuum around!!! Ok, lots ta do & only a short time to do it!! Happy Monday =)

Buster Brown snugglin with ken while we watched a movie. I just love this pic. =)

Only 45 more days till Christmas!!!! =)

Thankful Thursday Strikes Again

Ya know, I haven't done a "Thankful Thursday" post in some time. I think my posts reflect on my thankfulness though. But tonight I want to address how thankful I am to be an American.

I have probably at one point in time taken being born an American for granted. I have always been proud to be an American though. I bet some may know where I'm going with this...How Mrs Obama is "for the 1st time proud to be an American" Well that urks me to no end.

I know the country is in a mess right now but can you imagine how much worse it could be & is in other countries? I know I am very fortunate to have been born in a hospital, have food, shelter, clothing, family...not all countries have this. I was privileged to attend school & college too. In some countries that is not possible. We as women have the right to vote, and be anything we want to be. Those rights have always been there for my generation. It's our forefathers who fought for us to have that right. I think some people take that for granted.

Most people know who I voted for & I'm honored I was able to voice my opinion in the form of a vote. It wasn't the outcome I had hoped for, but I will always support my country & my President...even in the bad times. Mr Obama sure has his work cut out for him. I think if one is for the 1st time proud to be an American perhaps they should do some thinking...if you weren't an American you would not have had the opportunity to vote, attend College, have babies in safe places, have schools for your children, safe water, shelter, etc etc. I was very privileged to have been born in this country & have ALWAYS been & will ALWAYS be proud & thankful to be an American.

Yuletide Joy Arrives in the Den

Wooo Hoooo! Fever broke last night after 5 days of feeling like complete monkey butt with some sort of flu/cold business. My Christmas decorationaliing had been on the back burner all week! Totally uncool!! But, today my lil brother came over & we took ALL of the Christmas stuff down from the attic. I won't go up there by myself...it's haunted..no joke!! It has metal crosses nailed in each corner...and I ain't movin them! Anyways, I had my backup in JJ just in case sumthin odd happened.

We bought a new tree for our bedroom this year...well I decided to use it in the den instead!!! =)

Two things I NEVER do on a Christmas tree...use colored lights or mis matched ornies. I'm one of those weirdos who need everythign to match & have order. Well this year I decided to try something different & use colored lights. I also used our old ornies, ornies from Ken's Christmas tree, ornies Ken made when he was a kiddo & some we've made ourselves. Ya know what? I absolutely LOVE it!!! It means so much having these memorable ornies on the tree. The felt gingerbread man Ken made in Kindnergarden, a potpouri ball we used as decoartion at our wedding hangs from it. It's hard to believe that lil lacey sacet is almost 13yrs old...where does time fly. There are ornies we used in our 1st apartment, ornies we made when we had no $ to purchase some. Ya know, each of these ornaments has a story. A very special story. I could gaze at this tree for hours. We decided each year we'd make a special ornament for this tree. You might notice we have no angel or star atop the tree...that's what we're going to make this year =)

My Current Addiction Takes Over

Ok, so I have a bit of an addiction with lightbulbs now!!! I went out & bought 6 packs of them tonight. So don't be surprised if one finds it's way into your home!! Cuz honestly...what in the heckles would I do with this many lightbulb ornies? I had a few people tell me I should sell them...I dunno. The vote hasn't been tallied for that one yet.

Ok, onto some pics now!! =)

The Santa's are not finished & only one of the snowmen is. But remember, I'm impatient at times & had ta take a photo!!
A doggy

And here's Bacon the pig!!

Mr Mooooove over bacon!!
I can't wait till tomorrow to make more...perhaps a nutcracker, or Christmas Tree, orr a rooster!! who knows. I have just a few hours before the sun comes up to dream up some ideas.

Lightbulb Ornies

What does one do when the fate of our country is put into voters hands? Why we paint lighbulbs!! Or at least I opted to do that this afternoon to keep my head from exploding. This election has me pretty fired up!! Anyways, onto the ornies (abreviation for ornaments).

I took my drawer of paints downstairs so I could still kep my ears open on the election stuff & went to town painting.
It's a pig in progress =)

On the far left we have a lady reindeer, then a boy reinderr & lastly a doggy. I know nobody wants to see the contents of my curio cabinet but it's the only place I could hang these semi wet ornies from to photograph. And well, we all know I'm not one for having much patience...expecially when I'm excited!! What a funtastical project this was. And a wunnaful way to use burnt out, or in our case the lightbulbs after you changed over to energy effecient ones!!
Don't throw out those bulbs!!! Make something!!! I double dog dare ya =)

One Nation...Under GOD!!!!

I am sure I will catch all holy heck for this post. But it sickens me that people think it's fine to do this to an innocent baby. ..Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations. No, I am not a Bible Thumper...but tell me...how can this be "ok, acceptable" This little guy is an aborted baby...and Mr Obama is all for it.

Ken & I have friends who became parents to twins at 22 weeks. Their babies born at a smidgen below 2lbs...2 lbs people!!! They are now healthy lil kiddos who will celebrate their 1yr birthday in December!!

Meet Allison & Jacob =)
Before I continue I understand times where abortion is I dunno how to put this, but a viable choice to someone. I know there is no over turning Roe Vs Wade. I wouldn't want such a thing either. But c'mon people...tell me how this partial birth abortion is proper!! Sickens me to no end!!

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Mr Obama will not even put his hand to his heart. I know it's just a symbol but heck!!! It's a profound symbol! One I take great pride in. No matter how much our Country is in need of help. Heck, like I said, I'm not a Bible Thumper by no means but Obama will not even say "One Nation Under God" I must be old fashioned or perhaps have a smidgen of belief in God because I find it absurd to not say those words!! I am damn proud of my country & know I am very fortunate to live it...even during these bad times!!

Neither Ken nor I are gun people. We don't hunt or even go target shooting. Ken does own a gun though. It was his Dad's. Now under Obama we would not be allowed to own it??? Ludicrous!!!

And furthermore why should one person have to work their asses off only to hand the check over to spread the wealth to someone who does not feel that a good work ethic is necessary?
I was sooo boggled through this whole election process. I went back & forth with who I thought would be the better of the two. I am actually praying today....for a better America. And a President who is proud of his country!!!

Please, exercise your right to vote today...no matter who you vote for!! This is America & we have the privilege...not every country does!!!

A Bright Idea!

I cannot even WAIT to show you what I'm going to do with these!! Hopefully tomorrow...

All these lightbulbs were replaced with energy effecient bulbs. It really seems like we are both getting more into conserving energy & not wasteing and using natural resources. We would LOVE to put some solar panels on our house. But that will have to wait. Perhaps those new bulbs will pay for some panels with the savings!!!

I was talking to my neighbor today about how much Ken & I are changing the older we get. Like we actually give a care. I could not throw these perfectly fine bulbs in the garbage & know of noone who could use them....sooo stay tuned!!! =)

I Got Lucky!!

Before you think I'm going to post an entry about bedroom behaviors I'll stop you right there. I got lucky by meeting this hunk of a guy!! My hubbykins Ken!!! =)

Now let me tell you about this man. I know I talk about him oodles. Well, he's not really the romantical type at all, he thinks I'm borderline insane with my Christmas decorating, and well, he's a dude & pretends to be a toughie. If he knew I was writing this he'd blush & call me a dork & I'd say thank you =)

Now let me tell you about the real Ken....This weekend I fell in love with him all over again. It was as if he were 16 & I was 18 again, when we 1st fell in love. Ahhh how 15yrs passes!! LOL

So, this weekend he actually got into the Halloweenie spirit, even bought a costume...a super funny one I might add! Now to most people he's rather blah, on the shy side. Well in the house his wackiness gives me a run for the $!!!

He tells me numerous times that I am gorgeous...even when I KNOW I look my worst!!

The man is a supreme chef in the kitchen & guess what he did? All of the cooking this weekend. We both woke up Saturday feeling like padooples. His flu bug cleared up right away & mine is finally getting better today. I had no problem cooking but he did it all...even ran the dishwasher & cleaned up after himself!!! Usually if he cooks I have a gynormous mess to clean up.

Oh, and Friday night he even made home made frozen custard. I was already in bed but it was made & super yummalish when I had some. He also sat outside with me while passing out Halloweenie candy to the trick or treaters!!

On Saturday he washed & vacuumed both of our vehicles while I slept on the couch. He came in & woke me up by rubbing my face & asked if I needed anything. I steam cleaned the carpeting Friday night & finished on Saturday afternoon. He carried buckets of water to fill the reservoir up & emptied the dirty water for me!!

We watched a few scary movies & snuggled on the couch. He rubbed my head while we watched. On Saturday he put in a movie. He wouldn't tell me what it was. I figured it would be one of "his" type of movies...but to my surprise it was a Christmas one!! Ok, my husband is NOT one for Christmas movies...but I am =) After that movie he put in The Bucket List. I kept dozing off. I had seen it already & I was still not up to par. I woke up with about a half an hour left. At the end of the movie he was crying...he usually tries to hide that. When we first started dating one of the things I loved about him is that he was a toughie who cried at sad movies. He's no sap but the dude has feelings.

On Sunday we went to the store to buy dog food & replace our light bulbs with energy efficient ones. I mozied into the Christmas section. Bought a big tree for the bedroom & one for the staircase. He came up to me & said, "Kat, don't buy too much, I want to spend some $ to decorate the house." Holy jeepers!! He wants to DECORATE the house?!? Eyyy eyyyy eyyyy! This can't be good...he doesn't have a decorating bone in his body. We went to the area they have floor lamps & clocks. We picked out a floor lamp for by my recliner. He said I need one for reading, etc. Then he picked out a clock for the living room! It's gorgeous!! When we got home I asked him if he'd help me in the attic with bringing some of the Christmas decorations down. Year after year he has complained about my having to put numerous trees up. It's not like he's ever helped decorate a tree. I was ready for him to try to talk me out of it & be a Bah Humbug...but he wasn't!!! Not one negative word!!!

He went to his folks & to our semi. Well it was taking him forever & I was putting the lights on the tree & half the green lights were burnt out. He didn't have his cell on him so I called his folks to see if he was still there. I asked if he'd grab a couple strands at Walmart for the tree. He said sure! It sounded like he was ready to leave. So I figured it'd be about a half an hour tops & I'd be able to put the rest of the lights on. Well hours passed. He finally walked through the door, handed me the bag with lights, tossed a canister of beef jerky to me & handed over these....

The card says "Guess Who....Loves You? I Do!!!" Then he signed it "I love you sooo much" Ken How awesomely sweet!!! After that we went in the kitchen & he decided to make dinner...again!!! I wonder...what does he want to buy? Yup, I sure did get lucky!!
THANK YOU KEN...for being my best friend, my everything, my husband & the best daddy to our furry pets!!!

Holly Jolly Begins

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Woodbury home! November 1st marks day 1 of Christmas decorating. Well yesterday we both we down feeling like padooples with the flu so I was unable to begin decking the halls. Today I'm still up to par but I was able put the main tree in our living room up. I'm a tad on the wackadoodle side & put up several trees, numerous lights, village pieces & well just plain ole go bonkers for Christmas. We went to the stare to buy some meds & came out two Christmas trees richer =) One large one for our bedroom & a 3ft-er for the staircase. Total stokage!!!

We obviously can't have a real tree with putting it up so early. So our fake blue spruce in the living room does the job perfectly. After 8 or so years she still looks good when she's all put together.
My helpful hubby fluffing the branches. He doesn't help decorate the main tree with me. He's one not to really care much about decorating & I'm well...a fussy butt. He does put the star one though. =)

All lit up...now it needs a skirt. She looks nakie!! There's still sooo much more to do. It usually takes me a good couple weekes to get all the decorations up. I need to get my bootie movin though. We are planning on hosting Thanksgiving at our home this year.

Happy Belated Halloweenie!!!

I went on a road trip with the hubbykins last Tuesday afternoon & didn't get home till Thursday night. I rarely, if ever take my computer on the road with us.
Thursday night after my brother's birthday get together ken & I went to Wally World to pick up a few things & search out Halloweenie costumes. We found nothing. I got home, went online to see if I could get any ideas...it was a no-go so I shut the computer down. I started thinking about Christmas, and putting up our Christmas tree. That was it! We got out of our jammies & went back to the store & bought the fabric & accessories for a Christmas tree costume. I sewed until 3am & worked on it till 5am!! All I needed was some battery operated Christmas lights to complete the costume. We went to Menard's the following morning & found solar lights!! How fantastical! It was a splurge $ wise but I'm going to use them on the fence in the back yard. (We don't have an outlet back there)

Ok, I have everything I need now so we go to Shopko to rent the Rug Dr & look at costumes for Ken. I'm not kidding you when I say we had people flocking to the aisle we were in to see what was so funny. I a loud laughter & you get me laughing I go into a fit of snorts!!! Ken had found a Hilary Clinton mask!!! Now if you know Ken at all you only know a chill, go with the flow, almost shy-ish guy. I assure you, he gives me a run for the $ in the oddness department!! He looked for something along the pantsuit idea on the hung costume rack. Found nothing. But we found a cute lil french maid costume on clearance for 60% off!! My Christmas tree costume ended up a bit too short & bending over would have been a huge no-no. So, why not buy the maid outfit. It could come in handy if we ever have a Murder Mystery party right!!!!

After that adventure we headed to Goodwill for a pantsuit for the Kenster. He's a big guy so it was going to be hard. But alas, we found some pink elastic pants, fully loaded with some far out hip pleats!!! And he tried on the pink blazer in front of everybody. He then had to try it on in the dressing rooms. It wasn't gonna fit over his sweatshirt. LOL Imagine the onlookers! My burly husband in a pink dress coat!!! Well we got home, tried our costumes on & my lil brother spent the night so he took a few pics. Mrs Rinne even came over to see the costumes. Total funny-ness!! Ok, so we were all set for the party at Chad & Lisa's for the following night...

Yeah right, we woke up yesterday with total unsettled bellies & my body was achey, head just a poundin. It was not gonna be a swell morning...especially with one pottie room!!! So we started doping up on meds so we'd be able to attend the party...well needless to say we weren't well enough to go. =( I'm sad. We looked forward to this party for weeks!!! Bah.

My hottie Hilary with manly chest hair!!!

Ok, this is just WRONG!! Hilary, Ken in pink pants & a pink blazer!! It's ooberously funny though!!!

At least we had a good laugh with the costumes. I'm going to look for a Murder Mystery game we can do at our house & hopefully use these costumes in other ways.
